Bed and Breakfast in Torvizcon, Las Alpujarras Las Alpujarras Retreat

"Inspirational"

Alastair Sawday's Special Places to Stay - Spain 2007

"You are welcomed into a house that exudes functionalism and chic simplicity. Against the cool white and pastels of the walls, the colours of nature are bolder and brighter than ever. Shafts of light enter from all angles through rough-hewn windows. An enormous bowl of hand-picked oranges sits in a thick, carved wooden bowl, as if waiting to be painted. Furniture is minimal, such as the dark wood rocking chair and the huge chest doubling as a table".

At the slightest breeze, sheets of soft, cool linen waft between the doorways, and straw mats, traditionally used in the olive oil making process, trim the floor. Leaves and wild flowers stand in vases as scents of lavender, rosemary and pine waft through the air.

Oil from olives harvested earlier in the year is used on the slate floors, terracotta tiles and wooden beams.

"Visitors are invited throughout the year to unwind and rejuvenate - to paddle in the river at the bottom of the land and to eat under the canopy of brilliant stars."

Dolly Dhingra - The Guardian Weekend

"Las Alpujarras….retains all its original charm, skilfully distributed over three double bedrooms, simple living areas and an authentically rustic kitchen. Wind your way through the fruit trees and there's a serene freshwater pool."

Ruth Corbett - Marie Claire Magazine
